: I use it, and it works fine. You know the sync cable should be a
: 75 Ohm video cable, not a 50 Ohm network cable? It's a bit suspect
: that it doesn't fit solid, mine fits fine. My QS8 is set for
: 44K external in the global section, I assume you set the clock source
: appropriately on both the QS8 and the card? And you get the same
: result if the QS is the clock master and the card is slaved to
: the clock on the lightpipe? Also when in doubt make sure you
: have the latest soundcard drivers.
: Do you get the same results at 44 and 48Khz (with both ends set
: up appropriately, and maybe trying the master clock from each side
    : with each option?)

Are you referring to the BNC to BNC cable? I didn't know they had different ohm ratings. I just went into Radio Shack and bought one, I have no idea about the Ohm rating. However, my soundcard has some word clock termination values that can be set. One is for 75 ohms. I haven't played around with this yet. I've been trying to get a response from Alesis as to which termination value to use.

I'm trying the word clock option because I can't get audio just using the lightpipe. When using the lightpipe only, I was setting the QS to be the master (internal) and the soundcard to be the slave.

The funny thing is that I was able to hook my QS8's optical out up to his Pro Tools Digi 001 without a hitch. I didn't even need the wordclock option.

I'm wondering if my problem is the soundcard or Cubase VST/24. I suppose it could also be my computer. His computer was a Mac G4, while mine is a generic IBM PC.
