Cubase SX Latency

Just in need of advice of how to minimize latency when recording. I'm using a laptop with an AMD 3800+ processor and 1gbt of Ram, (Lots of juice there) and using an Edirol pcr-m30 usd controler keyboard. The latency is not too bad but its enough to throw the timing of the session off. Any suggestions on correcting this problem?
