I have a QS-6 and not a QSR, but I think this is will help. I hope so.

Set your QSR to Mix mode. I'm guessing you're in program mode. Program mode will only play one voice at a time, but Mix mode will let you play up to 16 different sounds at a time.

To keep things simple, you may want to try General MIDI mode to start. GM mode limits your selects to the GM bank (4), but takes care of setting the mix mode for you.
