Thanks for your responses.....
I got so frustrated with the hook-up and so excited about the QS8 that I forgot to check this site for answers to my questions!

My QS8 came bundled with an Alesis/Unisyn CD that had no useful instructions whatsoever. After several tedious hours, I finally found enough hidden instruction pages to determine that I needed to set up FreeMIDI first, then crank up Unisyn and Cubasis. Looks like that combination worked, as I am now able to function in both programs, having had absolutely no prior experience or knowledge of MIDI instruments or applications. We had an old data transfer switch box lying around, so we plugged the modem and the QS8 ports into it, to keep the printer port free to print scores from Cubasis.

I agree that NONE of what I've experienced so far has been "very MAC"...

I'm also frustrated that I've accidentally ditched User Programs 000, 001, 002, and 004, because I couldn't figure out how to get out of EDIT mode...it's sort of buried in the manual. Turns out all I had to do was hit most any other key, and I'd have saved my bank. Oh, well - live and learn the hard way!

In the mean time, I have the banks on the CD, but haven't a clue how to get Unisyn to read them and send them back to the QS8 - any ideas?!

Thanks - Brenda
