1) Does MIDI OUT from the SB go to MIDI IN on the keyboard? (I know it's a stupid question but it's also a common mistake).
2) What software are you using to send the MIDI to the keyboard? More than likely, your "default" MIDI output is going to the synth that is built onto the SB and NOT to the hardware MIDI. Most sequencer programs I've seen have a "MIDI Port Setup" menu item (try the Tools menu) that allows you to select where the MIDI will be directed. The default is probably the sound card. Try "Help" in the program and search for MIDI Port.
