MIDI Delay Problem

Hi guys
I'm a newbie on the "New Generation" music scene. i used to make music with an atari and Steinberg's Twelve.
But nowadays we have sophisticated Tools like Reason v2!
And there i got a problem:
I want to play some piano loops with my Yamaha PSR-400 Keyboard over MIDI to my (Pentium 4, 1.5Ghz, 512RDRAM) Computer.
But there's always a DELAY when i'm playing.
i read in an earlier post that there's no remedy... is that true?
how do the professionals handle that?
or is there a solution?
