Cakewalk Instrument Definitions For The Alesis Vintage Keys QCard

There are 5 files included:

 qsp_vk.ins (QS Plus),
 qs6_vk.ins (QS6),
 qs7_vk.ins (QS7),
 qs8_vk.ins (QS8),
 qsr_vk.ins (OSR)

To install follow these steps :

(The instructions were made for the QS8, if you use another model,
replace the QS8 references with whatever you have)

 1. Copy the file qs8_vk.ins into your Cakewalk directory.
 2. Start Cakewalk
 3. Click on "Settings" and choose "Instruments" then "Define
   Instruments"
 4. In the "Define Instruments" window click on "Import" and
select the qs8_vk.ins file, then click on "OK"
 5. In the "Import Instrument Definitions" highlight "Alesis QS8"
   and click on "OK"
 6. In the "Define Instruments" window click on "OK"
 7. In the "Assign Instruments" window select and highlight the
16 channels of the port of your choice, then on the right side
select "Alesis QS8" and click on "OK"
The port you choose will be assigned to the QS8,
   on all 16 channels.
 8. Now you can select banks (0 - 4) and patches (0 - 127) from
the "Track/Measure" window, the QS8 will respond. The Vintage
Keys bank will be Bank #5.
 9. Make sure that "GenMIDI" mode is turned off and "MIDI PRG SEL"
is turned on (You can do that from Global mode on the keyboard)
10.It's a good idea to start all your GM files with a sysex
message (GM On) and finish them with a GM Off message. This way
you don't have to turn GM mode on and off manually.
11.I used the factory User Presets, if you have made some changes,
you can replace the original patche names with your own in the
   "Define Names" window.
