Yes, without an sram card, only the "user bank" is editable - all the other banks are presets and you can't store programs to them. You can edit any program from any bank, but if you want to store an edited program, you have to store it to one of the 128 spaces in the user bank.

Even if you don't edit the programs, but want to re-arrange programs from any bank in a particular order, you can do that in the user bank. You can "store" any program from any bank, with or without editing that program, into the user bank.

If you get a 512kb sram card, it gives you up to 8 more banks that you can write to, just like you can to the user bank.

If you get a '.2', the following won't apply, because the QS 8.2/6.2 only have 1 card slot. For this reason, get a QS 8/7/8.1/7.1/6.1

The only thing that gets tricky is if you want to use Qcards. Each Qcard has 8mb of new samples, and one bank of Programs that use those new samples...they are great. If you use an sram card, it will use one of the two card slots, so you can only use one qcard at a time. If you put the Organ Qcard in and store one of its programs to the user bank or one of the sram banks, that program will only work if that qcard is in. If you take that qcard out or put another qcard in, the program that you stored will not play because its looking for certain samples on that certain qcard. However, as soon as you put that qcard back in, that program will work...follow?

: thanks man- I will get one of those cards. Let me just make sure I understand it though (i'm really new to this all, so sorry if I sound like an idiot)- So I can put in the card, then select all the sounds i want in a particular order? The reason i want it is so I can say for my band's set, #1 is piano tone I like, then I just go to #2 for synth strings, then #3 for organ and so on and so on..... At this poin that's really the only thing I need it for- As my knowledge grows, i'm sure I'll use more features- But for now I just need to be able to get to my sounds fast without having to go between banks and numbers..... Thanks a lot for the info- kevin
