Thanks for everyones help. The Roland Serial Port Driver is working fine now. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong. I reinitialized the QS and made the proper settings in the QS Global Edit. The settings had been correct prior to that. Don't know what it was but it is working now. Thanks for the advice.
: The Roland Serial Port Driver (V3.2) WILL work if configured properly and if you're using the correctly wired cable. I have a Sony laptop with XP Home edition, and I have been successfully using Soundbridge and QControl with this driver. Be certain that your cable has the RTS and CTS lines connected (not looped back) and that your driver is setup with the following settings:
: - Use Multiple Ports: OFF
: - Activate CTS/RTS Flow Control: ON
: Also, make sure that the PC 38.4 Kbaud setting is enabled in the QS Global settings.
: CAUTION: Leaving the QS in PC Serial Mode (instead of MIDI) can cause random sounds if the cable is left unconnected. The QS interprets noise on the port as sysex commands. After using the serial cable, you should return the setting to "MIDI".
