Connect the cable MIDI OUT to the MIDI IN of the SC-55.
Then find out where the other end goes in the PC. Is it a USB port or a sound card MIDI port?

Start Cakewalk, go to the Setting Menu and click on MIDI Devices. Select the MIDI OUT port (USB or SB OUT), and put it on top.
Go to the Setting Menu again, and click on Instruments.
Highlight the first 16 channels on the left and click on General MIDI on the right. Then select channel 10 on the left and click on GM drums on the right.
Now you can use the SC-55 to play your GM files.

: Hello Everyone,

: Im needing some expert advice here.

: I have an old Roland SC55 sound module that i want to connect to a PC with Windows XP. The pc has Cakewalk 9 installed.

: I have a special midi cable that is connected to PC and has 2 connections midi in and midi out on the other end.

: HOW DO I GET MY PC TO SEE THE SC55.. I WANT TO USE THE SOUNDS ON THAT INSTEAD OF MY SOUND CARD IN PC. I THEN WANT TO SAVE THE MIDIFILES THAT I HAVE EDITED IN CAKEWALK TO A SONY JE480 MINDISK.
