The MIDI file might contain a patch (program) change. Open it in the List Editor, and check the file for program changes.

: Everything was blissfull with Reason. Perfect interface between MIDi keyboard and software every time. Thought it would be a good idea to install Cubase but I have been searching for help ever since. My latest problem involves importing of MIDI files. I exported a REASON song to a MIDI file and imported that file into Cubase and allocated a sound from the Korg Wavestation VST plug in to the 1st track of that MIDI file. Only trouble is every time I playback Cubase just selects a different instrument from the one I want. It's always the 5th sound on any VST instruments drop down list. I know it's MIDI related related but do not know what to do other than re-write the MIDI file from scratch within Cubase.
