Midi converters

I am currently using Midi Match (midi to XLR) line drivers in a local band. I run the midi signals through a 100' snake to the sound console. Recently I added midi controlled lighting to the system. The Midi Match drivers can't seem to handle the frequent signals to the lighting system and the lights quickly lock up. A direct midi cable feed solves the problem. Does anyone have an idea as to how to effectively run the lights over the distance I require? Or am I limited to the "max" 50 foot direct midi limit? Maybe another line converter device or a signal booster? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
