Midi using joystick port

I have a connector that bridges a game port to MIDI, but not sure where I can get the software to make it work. I'm not sure but I think I got the connector from an old SB board. My computer has the joystick port on the motherboard and it has an onboard Yamaha synthesizer. Any freeware anywhere that would turn the joystick port into MIDI??
