connecting MIDI to notebook

Trying to get started with MIDI recording, I bought CUBASIS VST 2.0 software and installed it on my notebook computer. I just can't figure out how to connect my synthesizer (Yamaha CS1x) to my notebook (Toshiba sattellite pro 4300)which has no gameport or sound card connector. Can anuone help ? Thanks from a MIDI rookie.
