May I suggest reading the user manual thoroughly. Alesis does a good job for the most part,of making the functions understandable. Unlike some other manuals I've read, which can get pretty dry and boring,etc.
You should be able to learn all the things you need to know to get started in a short time. Keep the manual handy for reference, you'll be glad you did.
