Thanks for the input. Thinking about this further, I think I have found out what is happening, although I have still to isolate why. I notice on Cubasis, when it is working, that the output is to the modem, but when it is not working, it is aying that the output is to Cubasis or local, and it is not finding the modem. Yes, the NS test piece works fine, so I know there is not a problem there. It is getting the signal from my Mac to the NS and then out to the speakers that is the dilemma. My latest theory is that the TV box takes the sound output normally, and then out to the speakers. So, I think that, if I try to connect up the speakers through to the NS RCA plugs, then it does not see the basic signal coming through the MIDI interface, and therefore doesn't output any sound.
I think this will be trial and error to see what ultimately works. I may have to dump the TV box, but you try selling that option to your daughter!
