First - it looks like you need the current serial driver (you list version 1 - the current is 2.something) goto the software page here and download the updated driver http://midiworld.com/quadrasynth/qs_swlib.htm

Second - don't Alesis synths come with Unisynth anymore? I have Unisynth that came with NS, QSR and QS8 it always worked fine. I have Sound Driver but it came with my Roland XP-30 and tends to be a little flakey.

Try the new driver and I hope this helps
