I believe, (and someone correct me if I'm wrong here), if you goto the Global edit on one of the pages you can select the midi mix channel. Just to be sure, I'll check on it later and get back to you.
Also, in your sequencer setup a midi channel specifically for the mix.
That way it'll only respond to changes made on the midi mix channel.
