Had the same problem when i first started recording with cakewalk, what is happening is while you are playing, say on channel 1 to record, you might a track selected in Cakewalk on the screen, click on an unused channell in cakewalk and it should alleviate your problem.

Example, Im recording a piano track on Channel one Track one on cakewalk, the last thing I did in cakewalk was select ARM the track to record, so that track is selected, now when you play the sound on the keyboard it echos through the computer to cakewalk and echos it back into your boards, and it keeps echoing, It appears in Cakewalk when ever a channel is selected it automatically resends the data out, There is probably somewhere in cakewalk to turn it off, but I just select a track below all the tracks im working on and then there isnt a problem.

Good luck

: I'm pretty new with the keyboard and had a few questions. I am pretty new with the keyboard and am having a few problems hooking it up via the serial port on my laptop with cakewalk pro audio 8. It's not that I can't get it hooked up and working somewhat, its that the programs, while I'm recording, sound very strange. They almost sound like I am playing in a tunnel or something. The keyborad mode is on "out 1" which should be correct (I've tried normal and channel solo....and they certainly are not what I want). I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem, or knows what to do. Thanks alot, I appreciate it.
