Make sure the following has been set correctly:
On your QS6.1 - There is a switch next to the serial port connection, make sure its set to PC. Go into Global Edit and makre sure the IO setting is set for 38.4 baud.
On your PC - Go into control pannel, double click on Multimedia, go to the DEVICES tab, click on the + sign next to Midi Devices and Instruments, click on the Alesis Serial Port Driver and go into the Properties for the driver. I think there is a settings button on the property sheet - make sure it is set to COM1 and the baud is set for 38,400 baud. Click OK. If you had to change the baud rate you may have to reboot before everything works.
Baud rate mismatches are most often the problem. Are you running the serial driver from the CDROM or did you download it from Alesis? Both work, but the one from Alesis is a little newer than the one they ship on the CD. Let us know if this still doesnt work.
