If you are using Controller 0 (in cakewalk) to control your bank/patch changes you always have the option to select instruments from the GM banks as well as any of the preset or user banks. That way if you prefer to use GM instrumentation for sequences you can simply select the patches you want and they will always load correctly when you go to play them back on your QS8. Remember, you can save any combination of programs/patches from any combination of banks with your sequence and when you go to play them again the QS8 will select the correct ones.

Now if you are trying to create a GM sequence for non-QS keyboards, I would suggest you use one of the GM templates that come with cakewalk - but I don't think they include the sysex info you are looking for,
