It sounds like you're just getting started with MIDI. I recommend you check out the link below. It's Cakewalk's "Desktop Music Handbook" and it contains an excellent introduction to MIDI and how it's used to make music. You won't find specific instructions for how to hook your equipment up, but it's very good background material.
