I have several suggestions.

First, go back and read previous posts like the one about QS8 sequencing - there you'll find out that:

* To sequence you need to be in MIX Mode, User Bank 00.
* You need to go into GLOBAL EDIT mode and set KEYBOARD MODE to SOLO - this will allow you to play the instruments individally.
* Make sure GM is set to OFF (this is also a setting in GLOBAL EDIT).

Second, get a mainline sequencer like Cakewalk or Cubase. Get out on the net and download demo versions of several sequencers and try them, then buy the one you like best. I'd recommend you stick with something that has instrument definition files for QS synths (use the QS8 definitions for a QS6.1).

Third, download lots of midi files, load them into your sequencer and then examine them to see how they are built.
