I send sys ex using various sequencing packages taht I have. For example, Cubasis (free with the QS) allows you to enter the hex stream. Rather than reading the Sys Ex spec, I simply use Unisyn (also comes on QS CD-ROM) to see what streams it sends. Under the MIDI menu, you can select "Show MIDI sent" and use the editor to do what you want. For example, I wanted to ensure the QS was not in General MIDI mode before my sequences start. So I used Unisynth to turn it off, checked out the resulting hex stream...

: I've got a QS7 but I'm new at using sysex messages. I kind of understand the Alesis spec in regards to what needs to be sent and what the effect will be, but how do I actually create the messages? Is there a tool that allows me to enter the hex (I assume) commands into a text file and converts them to the byte data needed by the QS? Thanks for any pointers you can give me.
