Young,
If at all possible, spend time with both synths and pick the one that sounds and feels best to you. The qs-8 is awesome. The keyboard is also slightly angled up toward the tips of the keys like a real piano. I love the Alesis piano sounds myself. Although, I do know that many people swear by the Kurzweil and wouldn't trade it for the qs8 for anything. I think they like how the Kurzweil has a clear and distinct sound when played with other live instruments (like a band). The bottom line is to try to spend as much time with both before you purchase. And don't let the Alesis page make you think you are going to have massive problems with your synth. Many of these comments are from people who are just beginning to learn the programming ropes of the quadrasynth.
The fact that you can get advise from other qs users is a plus.

: I'm on the verge of ordering a QS8 for $1350. But after reading the potential problems, I may have to postpone ny purchase. If authentic keyboard action and good piano sound is important, should I get the QS8 or the Kurzweil PC88?
