: I use Cubase, and, have found it to be a very useful program. The midi editors are easy to navigate. As a sequencer there are a few options that I like. Such as, the inspector; the mixer; custom midi mixers; and the looping ability.
: Overall, it's a very powerful program. I haven't had much exposure to Cakewalk, so, I can't begin to compare. Hope this helps.

Note: Cubase is much more powerful than Cubasis. I worked with the Cubasis from the Alesis CD ROM and was really disappointed. No Documentation, system crashes, mediocre GUI. (I've heard good things about Cubase but that's why it costs 10 times as much as Cubasis) Finally gave up and spent $99 US on Cakewalk Home Studio. Works great and handles 16 tracks easily.

Good Luck
