Yes you can enter and edit drum tracks via the staff view in Cakewalk. Be sure that you are editing a track that has the instrument set to a drum kit patch. Channel 10 is pretty standard for this. You can change the staff view type to drums, which uses modified notes or leave it in normal and use regular notes. As for looping, you could either cut and past the notes from the pattern to as many measures as you need or you could have Cakewalk loop.
