For what my two-cents is worth (about two cents), I use Cakewalk Version 6.01 and have also found that it is necessary to set the bank/channel change controller to Controller 0. You do this by double clicking in the ptach, channel, or bank field of the Cakewalk Track View. Then you can select the method of channel/bank change. Otherwise, either nothing happens or you get bank changes you don't want, neither of which are much fun.
