Jim,
I assume you've connected your QS6 to one of the serial ports on the back of your computer, and not the midi connector on your sound card. If you've got it connected to your sound card, then your sound card midi drivers are not correctly installed. I don't recall how the Alesis serial driver is configured, but I used to use mine on COM2. I had problems with the Alesis driver crashing my sequencers whenever I played notes on the keyboard, though, and have since switched to the Roland Serial Port driver(available from the download page on this site), and had excellent results. The Roland driver lets you use COM 1,2,3, or 4. I'm using it now with Cakewalk Pro Audio 7 (I've used it with 6 and version 5, as well), and also with Cubase 3.55. Hope this helps.

: Sorry, this is a real beginner basic problem but, I can't figure it out. I've tried all kinds of things on/off on the
: QS6 and on the PC and have only succeeded in confusing myself.

: Just got the QS6 and it sounds/plays great thru headphones or my combo amp. However, I can't get it to
: talk to my PC. It's a 166mhz Intel with a Soundscape VIVO soundcard. The Alesis serial driver won't
: configure because the only port I can assign it to is Com3. MIDI doesn't seem to do anything at all.
: Neither Cubasis nor CW ProAudio 6 seems to recognize it. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
: Thanks!
