I'm dealing with a similar problem with Voyetra's
Digital Orchestrator Pro. Stereo piano patches
are repanned to mono when playing back a sequence.
DOP send out a MIDI Pan controller message, which
cannot be disabled, each time playback begins.
Voyetra is fixing the problem in DOP. Alesis
says that the QS8 always responds to an incoming
Pan controller message; it's part of the MIDI
implementation. You might check to see if
Cakewalk also send Pan messages automatically on
playback.
