I pounded on my qs6 for about 6 years (bought dec 95, sold nov 01), without a problem. The keyboard had a bit of wear, but normal for the 'mileage'. The girl who bought it from me didn't seem to be bothered by it. Cleaning contacts should be necessary at this stage.
Where do you live? I live on the coast, and you get this nasty 'salty-water' humidity that manages to create havoc in gear, so I keep mine covered all the time with really thick covers. But I've yet to see a problem. I've had to clean contacts before, but only after a few years.
If the problem ONLY shows up in piano patches, it's not the keybed. (Unless the other patches you're testing are not programmed to be touch sensitive).
