Jason;
For what it's worth, I have a USB only iMac and a Midiman MidiSport 1x1 interface running OMS.
I started out using the supplied MicroLogic AV Alesis sequencer, and still use it quite a bit while I learn to navigate Logic Gold.
So, yes, MicroLogic is compatible with USB.
As far as FreeMidi, you might want to consider wheather you are going to use Sound Bridge or not, as the manual for the above indicates Sound Bridge does not support FreeMidi, while it does support OMS.
If you want to use Logic (any E magic) products, which are the best with Mac, (writen for Mac), and are fantastic sequencer programs, you might want to look into their own interface.
I have been having a blast with MicroLogic AV Alesis, which is a fairly well rounded sequencer for entry level programs, but you aught to see what Logic Platinum, Gold and Silver can do. Whoa!
The only trouble with MicroLogic AV Alesis is that it cannot be updated. E magic's own version of MicroLogic AV is pretty cheap and updatable to a degree.
Though Logic's stuff is considered to have a high learning curve, it's made for pro-users, and therefore, is very comprehensive. A good choice for the long haul.
Talk to you later.
Ernie.
