Unless I've totally missed something all this time, the AUX outputs have to be assigned on a per-program basis. They're not active by default.

You access them through EDIT SELECT, then the 50 button, and finally the PAGE> button until you've gotten to Page 3 of the Level edit menu. Once there, you assign the SOUND OUTPUT to either the Main Outs L/R or to the Aux Outs, or you can turn it Off. Ergo, the program Volume, while unaffected by the normal volume, can be adjusted under the Level menu.

Why this arrangement? Evidently the thinking is that you could split away some of the individual programs in a Mix, and send them out for external routing and/or processing, while the rest of the Programs in the Mix are output through the Mains.

Confusing? Yeah. Useful? Never to me, but maybe for others.
