"Don't forget to check out the EXPANDO banks that come on the CD along with your synth"

This seems to be something that has gone away. My 7.1 didn't ship with a CD either ... the manual states that all software is freely downloadable from Alesis web site, but ... the 7.1 (and I'm sure the 6.1/8.1 & QSR pages on their site) state: Comprehensive MIDI Productions: Alesis Synthesizer CD-ROM
The Alesis Synthesizer CD-ROM which comes with each QS Series synth includes a slew of full-featured software-based MIDI production tools from innovative companies like Emagic™, Opcode™ and Alesis. Built for both Mac® and Windows® platforms, you’ll get the Sound Bridge and FreeLoader applications, plus programs for sequencing and digital audio, editor/librarians, notation, extra samples, programs and mixes, sample sequences, demos and more.

Certainly Editor/Librarians, Notation, & sample sequences are not on their web site ... which seems to have become quite stagnant ... Hope NUMARK helps revive the keyboard side of the house!

: Hey Eric, aren't you lucky?
: Well, I have an 8.1, and it seems the programs which come loaded on the Q-cards are different than those on the synth. Some of the programs in the synth are ALSO on the Q-cards-but most are not. Make sense?
: For instance, the Vintage Synth Q-card has programs not found on the 8.1 no matter how you look. Alesis uses a few programs from all or most of the Q-cards, along with others, to form the banks which are already installed on the synth. They usually have the same names too.
: If you get a piano Q-card, like the Sterio Grand Piano, you will find some programs already on your synth, but the thrust of the card will be new stuff.
: Bye the way, I hear the above mentioned card is very good. Maybe others out there have the same opinion?
: I have the Vintage Synthesizers and Sanctuary cards, and think they are fantastic.
: At zZounds.com or Kraft Music.com they cost 99 bucks! Well worth the coin.
: Don't forget to check out the EXPANDO banks that come on the CD along with your synth, (they are the ones called QS678ATM.SYX, etc., in the QS Synth/SysEx Format folder. Whoa! Pretty good stuff hiding in there! You need a program to load those banks into the USER bank on the synth, and from there load them onto an S-ram card for storage. Read manual. I use a Mac, and the provided "Freeloader" program does not work at all. Find another.
: Sorry to go off a tangent like that. Anywho, Alesis would have a heck of a time marketing Q-cards if they were redundent, no?
: Have fun with that 7.1.

: Regards, Richard.

: P.S. Anybody out there have a different view? Let's hear it.
