Well, I fixed the beast! When I had the case open a couple of days ago I
was afraid to separate the PC boards housing the key contacts, but I
tried spraying some WD-40 into that area anyway, as I've had lots of
success in the past using WD-40 as a contact cleaner. The key then
stopped working altogether, regardless of the striking force and angle,
and even a couple of hours after I put the case back together the G# key
produced absolutely no sound.
I thought I had ruined the keyboard altogether, until I tried it again
this morning; the faulty key is now back in operation - in fact, it's as
good as new! I suppose the penetrating action of the lubricant finally
took effect, saving me lots of time I would have wasted trying to find a
good repair technician, and perhaps hundreds of dollars in repair costs,
too. :)
