: A very basic question: I think that I've seen talking about QS as the Quadrasynth. Does the word QS came from the words Quadra Synth? I know, that Alesis had synths in the market named Quadrasynth. But now they have only QS'es. QS uses Composite Synthesis, is the Quadrasynth's synthesis method same? So, why this site is named The Quadrasynth Pages even that it contains discussion about QS'es.

: PS. I own a Alesis QS 8.1

Yes-QS stands for QuadraSynth. Quadra being the 4 sound layers that can be used in the Composite Synthesis system. The name for this site comes from the guy who started it, Les Winters (hi Les),after he purchased one of the early versions, an S5 i believe. If you click on some of the links to the left you may find the history of this site told by Les himself, I know it used to be there.
