Greg-

Sorry none of my ideas helped- this seems like a really strange problem.. One thing I thought of, which you've probably already done, is trying all the different combinations of data speeds in both the QS and the software to see if you get a good connection on one.. it took me a while to get that set up right for mine. If you think the cable is the problem, I think a little searching on the internet could find you the right type of cable, and probably for cheaper than they cost from Alesis.

Oh, and about Alesis- They filed for bankruptcy, but they're not out of business-- yet. They've been taken over by a company called Numark Industries. Hopefully they'll keep the business alive.

: Greg, (nice name) I don't think changing drivers will resolve my problem, because up until the last day or so, the standard Alesis driver was working perfectly.

: I'm thinking that this is a cable or port problem.

: Has Alesis went out of business? I heard such a rumor. I'm wondering because it appears that standard computer stores don't carry the serial cable with the female DB9 to Round 9 pin cable required for the QS8. I purchased my original cable from Alesis.........

: But I do find it strange that I can get my click track to work. I can even get my synth to play back preexisting midi files. I just can't sequence new ones........These symptoms sound like software problems to me.......
