Yes, thousands of patches are available but they are all using the same stock piano sample.
I got the Jazz piano card because it adds a new piano sample to my QS-8. One that is more inline with what I play.
I grew very tired of the stock sample very quickly. Sam's patches will make the stock sample sound much better than the stock patches will, but I still wanted to add a sample more suitable for jazz.
While the Jazz piano card is based upon a different sample, you should call Alesis and make sure the Classical card is also before buying. I believe they have a Stereo Piano card which is the same as the stock samples and patches already on your QS-8.
