: : You cannot directly convert (translate) a midi file to an MP3 or .wav file. You will have to play the midi file and record the audio produced by your QS. You can do this directly in Cakewalk (assuming you have a sound card that let's you record audio into your computer).

: : Basically, setup your midi sequence in Cakewalk to run your QS, and setup a stereo audio track sourced to your soundcard input (to which you have connected the audio outputs of your QS). Set that track up to record, check levels, push the magic button and that should do it. You may have to do a little trimming of the resulting audio file to start and end the way you want it (i.e., time before the thing starts, fade out, etc.) and then follow the Cakewalk guide for 'mixing down' to export to a .wav or mp3 file.

: : : Alesis QS6.1
: : : PC-serial connection
: : : Cakewalk Pro Audio 9

: : : I have a few MIDI songs I have done sequenced on cakewalk. I can't figure out how to publish this to MP3. Is there a way to have cakewalk run the MIDI (with my QS sounds) out to MP3? or even wav? Are there any good books/tutorials out there that describe this process?

: : : The cakewalk manual tells you how to publish digital audio to MP3, but not how to get a MIDI song into dig audio.

: : : Any help would be greatly appreciated.

: Thanks for the reply. I do have a soundcard and i think it has a line in (but i think it is just mono, oh well) but i will give this a shot.

What type of sound card do you have?
