You may have checked this already, but just in case:
It may depend on how you have your QS8 connected to your computer. If you are using MIDI cables and the MIDI IN port, check that Page 15 of GLOBAL settings (Input/Output) is set to MIDI. If you are using a serial cable and the SERIAL port, this page should be set to the appropriate Mac or PC setting (set the SERIAL port switch on the back panel of the QS8 to Mac or PC too).
All this info is on page 117 in my QS7/8 Reference Manual. Good luck.
