Ok, someone below told me that my mic trouble was not because of the DAC in my sound card, but because it's not being preamped.
It was meantioned that I could MAKE a preamp for less than $15, but I don't even know exactly what a preamp actually is, let alone know how to make one!
Get someone give me the lowdown?
