interference/clicks when using effects

Hi I have a QS8 and am using a mix which uses 2 string programs, a piano prog and a bass prog. The problem is when i am playing, when the parts are played together i get a clicking noise when i press a key. This only happens after i have played a few notes each time, which leads me to believe that the QS is having difficulty passing all the sounds through the effects processor. Am i right, is it something different??.. What should I do to get rid of this noise?? .. or even if there is some way of reducing the problem so that i can play more keys before the click kicks in? ..
