It's not the A/D converter, it's because your signal is too small.

You need a preamp to bring up your microphone gain before the SB Card. Also turn off the 20 db gain on the mic channel. Thats where the noise is comming from, not the A/D converter.

: I've recorded quite a bit of vocals over from my audio-technica MB2000L dynamic microphone, and they sound great, no preamp, just dirrectly into the mic port on my SB Live value.

: But I will agree, the A/D conversion is a bit noisy, not too bad, but noticable, especially when you start doing internal effects and things that might bring noise out, but it's worked fine for me.
