: I don't have an answer, but I have the same observation on the piano sounds on my QSR when played off of my Roland PC200 keyboard / controller. I had someone in my studio using it just yesterday and it was a little embarassing. I'm wondering if it may have to do with velocity curve settings on the keyboard in conjunction with the piano program settings in the QSR, since it doesn't seem so harsh when I just use a sequencer alone.

: I'll be interested to know if anyone else has encountered this and found a fix.

: : I have a QSR which is controlled through an Roland A-70. It's been a rather steep learning curve tweeking the Roland to the Alesis - but I am quite happy with most of the sounds I use. I play the organ pathces through the auxillary output to my Leslie 147 - impressive sound. I can't get any good piano sounds (sounds dirty at the upper octaves - C2 and above) - whether I play them in stero or mono. Any suggestions for settings and amplification for live performances?

The stereo piano patches are made of two or four samples panned hard right and left. The Alesis responds to pan messages by setting the pan of all the samples in a patch to the value sent via MIDI. If your PC200 sent a pan value (I'm assuming it can) your stereo pianos will sound like a $50 Casio.
