I, too, struggled to amplify my QS8 with clean sound. I bought the Alesis RA-100 and a set of monitor ones (without a mixer), and I'm happy at low volume.
For performance I have TWO of the Roland KA 100 amps for stereo sound, and it works pretty well.
I've been told that a good sound system can sound better than headphones, but I can't afford to find out.
