: : I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to download a sysex file to my QS 8.1. Do I need to set the QS 8.1 to the User Bank or are there any other settings I need to have?

: : Thanks

: Hello, There is software on your Alesis CD/ROM for this, called Freeloader. The cd also has many different sysex files that you can try. Otherwise your sequencing software should have a provision for sysex(system exclusive), check the index in your software's help file or do a search within the software's help file for more on this. To send data from the QS to your PC see your manual for info on the "store" button immediately to the upper left of the QS's display.Paging thru the "store" button's menu you will see "SEND ALL DATA TO MIDI?", etc.Transmitting data to the QS is usually accomplished at the software end, I think the QS will accept this data as long as "MIDI PRG SEL" is on in the "edit global" menu. But it may accept it anyway. Make sure your midi setup is correct within your software. E-mail if I can help any further(assuming I've helped at all) -Michael

Thank you for your help. After I posted this last night, I continued to play with the QS8.1 until about 2:30 in the morning and I finally got it to receive sysex data from Freeloader. I had to uncheck the box in the hardware configuration box.
