Huh? I have a qs6 (among other synths) and I access the mixes all the time. Receiving on one midi channel and distributing the data doesn't make any sense. You receive data in multiple midi channels (up to 16) and each access a different part in the mix. That's it.

What I haven't figured out if you can change from program mode to mix mode (maybe thru sysex?)

But once you set the qs to mix mode, you can select mixes, send program data to individual mixes, etc. However, you have to be careful. You have to set the receive mode in the qs correctly, however, so that the qs actually changes mixes and doesn't change a specific program within a mix (which is the default). There's a parameter under Global settings to get this right. Look thru that part of the manual. My music stuff is packed up for a move so I can't check exactly what the settings are.

If you still have trouble let me know and I'll see if I can dig up the manual.

: : Is there any way using Cakewalk Pro Audio to access the Alesis mixes (instead of the programs) ?

: YES. But only if you have a QSR in your setup. The QSR has the ability to receive on ONE midi channel, then distribute the incoming data to the other midi channels that are used in that particular mix. The QS8,7,6 are not capable of doing this. BTW, you could use only one mix on the QSR at a time in Cakewalk (or any other sequencer) but you could send the other midi tracks to a QS8, etc. at the same time the QSR receives the single mix midi track. Hope this helps. PW
