: Anyways, I was thinking of something. I've got basically two midi 'ports' as far as Win95 is concerned, my MPU-401 interface (1) and my Yamaha SW60XG sound card (2). My QS synths are on (1) (switchable via patchbay). Up till now I've been using the synths in sequences, but I'd like to use a few of the Yamaha's sounds.
: Q: Can I use 16 channels on port (1) AND another 16 channels on port (2), or am I limited to 16 channels total?
Shouldn't be a problem. I use Cakewalk, and in the midi devices setup if you highlight both midi ports, both ports will become available. Then simply configure tracks 1 through 32, assigning tracks 1-16 to port 1 and 17-32 to port 2.
p.s. I like the forum although I find the list more convenient (automatic). I would participate either way.
