HELP! I can't get Cubase and QS8 to communicate other than GM mode!

Does anyone know why I can only get the Cubase demos to play
all tracks simultaneously on General Midi mode? How do I set up
my computer up to play other banks of the QS8 and get all
the tracks to sound simultaneously? I can only get one sound
at a time when I put it on any bank besides GM. There
seems to be no help for this on the Alesis site. I figure
there's something I need to set up in the keyboard but I've tried
everything in the QS8 manual and nothing works. Is it my
computer? It is a(wince)Pacard Bell...
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
