: I just got my QS-8 last week. It replaced my old Korg SG-1 piano and Korg M1.

: I was wondering if the 64 voice polyphony of the QS-8 only applied to a single sound source. I noticed many patches use 2 - 4 sounds. Does that mean I only have 16 (or 8!) voice polyphony when 4 sounds are used (as is the case with the nice piano patches)?

The more sounds in a program the fewer notes you
will hear simultaneously. But for 2 sounds you
get 32 notes (not 16) and for 4 sounds you get 16
(not 8). Besides, most of the patches that are
made of 4 sounds do not use them in a layered
setup, meaning that a single key will not play
all 4 sounds at once like in most of the piano
programs: 2 sounds are used for keys up to G5 and
the other 2 are used for an undamped piano above
G5.
